Synopsis Dancing to Live Book Project (English Version)
Rudolf Milan Unzucht, born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, to a traditional Czech Diplomat and a Housewife, discovered his passion for the art world, particularly dance, from a young age. Despite parental repression, Rudolf's connection to dance remained strong, even as he was restricted from indulging in his favorite TV shows and dancing freely.
Seeking a more liberating lifestyle, Rudolf eventually relocated to Berlin, Germany, with his family. By day, he worked as a waiter, but by night, he embraced his true self as a dancer, transforming into Josephine Moonlight, a Charleston dancer reminiscent of the 1920s and 1930s. It was in Berlin that Rudolf came to terms with his homosexuality, experiencing love twice amidst the backdrop of intense persecution by the Nazi Army, leading to his imprisonment and later confinement in a Nazi Concentration Camp.
Facing unimaginable adversity in his final prison, Rudolf found solace and resilience through dance. With his life on the line, he danced for survival, a testament to the power of art and self-expression even in the darkest of times.
