Healthy and Unhealthy Competition in Business



Hi everyone. I hope you are healthy and in a good state of mind.

Today I decided to write a different subject. 

Before starting my own journey as a writer I worked in many companies and I saw many things I did not like so I wrote my experience and ideas about the work environment and I think that is not different in a Book Publisher Company. 

Let´s talk about some attitudes I have seen many times happen in a work environment we must pay attention to identifying healthy and unhealthy competition in Business.

1º A co-worker who makes other people work show up as an inferior:

This kind of strategy is unhealthy because it allows other people to do the same with others and causes conflicts in a work environment that can be avoided. If you want to make your work show up do that with a work ethic and focus on your work not inferiorizing your co-workers.

2º When you help a new employee some people speak loudly about what they are doing to everyone know that in the work environment.

Besides being unnecessary is very embarrassing to the new employee to go through this experience. If you want to help a new employee do that discreetly.

3º If you are a boss and one of your employees behaves in a way that is not allowed by company culture, the boss shouts and warns the employee with offensive words.

Another behavior is very aggressive and it´s considered moral harassment in the workplace being subject to legal proceedings under Brazilian labor laws. Please talk with your employees in a closed environment and explain the company culture.

So, now let´s start talking about Healthy Competition in Business:

1º Start the competition by being competitive with your own limits:

For example: If you are a Sales Professional and you want to increase your sales, try new approaches with your customers, offering new ideas and benefits.

2º See what happens in your workplace but be discreet:

Never forget. You are being seen and your work is being supervised, even if you are a Manager. Always do your best and be respectful and collaborative with your co-workers.

3º Be authentic, be yourself!

There is no more powerful as a Professional than being authentic and yourself. Show your strengths, your capacity, and unique personality to impress yourself and the people around you.
